Root Rig Workflow ==================== Use the Template U5 root rig to - Adapt your model size and pose to the bone positions. - Check Elbow, fingers, and knees positions and rotations Rigify U5 Rig Size (Template) -------------------------------- Start by creating your rig through Shift+A>U5 Game Rigs > Riggify U5 Rig Size (Template) - This will bring in a Root Rig provided by the addon as well as setup the scene scale properly to work well with Unreal Engine 5 .. image:: /images/RigifyU5RigSizeTemplate.png Prepare Your Mesh --------------------- .. video:: /clips/RootRigPrepareMesh.mp4 :width: 800 :autoplay: :loop: :nocontrols: :muted: - After Creating the Rig, the addon will Setup the Scene Scale to Match the Unreal Engine 5 - Very Likely The Rig will be Much Larger than Your Model, you will need to Scale up your Model (Usually by x100) to Match the Size of the Created Rig - Adapt the scale to the rig size - Select your mesh. Ctrl+A to Apply Scale Bind Your Mesh --------------------- .. image:: /images/RootRigBindMesh.png - Select your mesh and click +add selected in 'Bind these objects' options - Click on 'Bind Weights' Check Your Model --------------------- - Your model will move if you rotate the bones now - You can proceed to do some Weight Painting if there is a need Animate -------------------- - Open DopeSheet, select:Action Editor - Select your rig, switch to POSE MODE - To Animate, select a bone, keyframe the rotations or locations in the timeline - Give your action a name Export -------------------- - Click on the "Push to NLA" button - Use File>Export>FBX to U5 - Import the FBX file into Unreal with default settings
